OBJECTIVE AND BENEFITS OF PRADHAN MANTRI MATSYA SAMPADA YOJANA
The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was introduced on September 10, 2020, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The scheme’s objective is to create the Blue Revolution through the five-year sustainable growth of the fisheries industry (2020-2025). It would be implemented as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Package during a five-year period, from FY 2020–21 to FY 2024–25, with an estimated cost of Rs. 20,050 crores. By 2024–2025, PMMSY hopes to increase fish production by an additional 70 lakh tonnes, bringing in Rs. 100,000 crore earning from exports of fish.
