Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana was launched by PM Narendra Modi in Ranchi, Jharkhand. This is a Central Sector Scheme which is administered by the Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, and the Government of India in partnership with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

PM-KMY is launched for small and marginal farmers. After the age of 60 small and marginal farmers will be provided a pension of ₹3000.This scheme was introduced with an aim to secure the lives of small and marginal farmers in India.This scheme is for farmers aged from 18 to 40. Members are required to make contributions of ₹ 55 to ₹ 200 monthly.
