The government of Maharashtra has planned to establish a call centre to ensure the efficient functioning of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and provide better healthcare facilities. Several changes are being made under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, including an increase in the financial assistance for kidney transplantation from the previous amount of 2.5 lakhs to 3 lakhs. Additionally, the healthcare expenses for each family have been raised from 1.5 lakhs to 2 lakhs. Previously, the scheme covered 971 types of operations, but now it will include 1034 different types of operations.
Earlier, plastic surgery, heart diseases, cataract surgery, and cancer were covered under the scheme. However, now the scheme has also incorporated other operations such as knee replacement, dengue, swine flu, paediatric surgery, sickle cell anaemia, and more.
The main objective of the MJPJAY is to take responsibility for the treatment of the economically weaker section of the poor population residing in the Maharashtra state. The decision was made by the state government to include 14 districts under this scheme, which also includes farmers who have been affected by any natural disasters and are in need of financial assistance. Expensive healthcare services, such as surgery and transplantation therapy, are provided under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana for these underprivileged individuals. All the government hospitals in the Maharashtra state have been selected for the treatment of these diseases.
